The internet has evolved to be the most used medium of our time.
The experience that people have with the internet is not created or governed by one entity or by a few organizations, it is driven by the users themselves. Who would have thought that a personal site to sell a broken laser pointer would turn out to become eBay or an online diary would evolve to be an outlet used by Presidents and CEOs to give them a more personal relationship with their staff.
To me, being a part of Teknision is not only listening and reacting, but providing insight to our clients and the community. We are part of the evolution, we design the ride and then we jump on!

We are looking for an experienced Macromedia Flash developer to join our team.
REQUIREMENTS:
Front end Flash development expertise
Expert knowledge of Actionscript
Experience with Flex, REST, XML/RPC, SOAP and Remoting
Experience with Flash Media Server
The applicant must display attention to detail, be able to organize time effectively and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. They will also need to be a team player with excellent interpersonal and conceptual skills plus willingness to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done. THE BIG IDEA
Control of brand messaging has moved into the hands of the consumer. A friend's personal description of their experience with a product is more valuable and has more impact than almost any amount of marketing.
The new role of marketing is to influence the experience. Providing a meaningful experience transforms your customer's perception of your brand.

THE MANIFESTO
We are the online consumer and we have changed how we see media.
We make our own magazines and call them blogs. We use social news sites as our newspapers. Broadband video has become our television network. We create our own entertainment.
Most importantly, we share.
Our information spreads directly from one person to another. Brands have difficulty getting a message in between.
The social contract between consumers and marketers is beginning to break. Once we chose to exchange our attention for entertainment, now we fail to see the returning value.
Interruption marketing isn't made for a world where consumers create, connect and share freely. We can tell that traditional marketing isn't working anymore and we choose to ignore it.
The brand's side of the equation has changed, it needs to be replaced with something real and tangible.
Branded Applications are a way to fill this void.
THE RESEARCH
Branded Applications are heavily influenced by the concept of Branded Utility.
The online consumer has fundamentally changed in the last 5 years. Brands are finding it very difficult to market to a consumer that has the power to easily ignore marketing. Branded Utility is a new strategy to change the way brands connect with consumers. Branded Utility proposes that the way to reach today's consumer is by making a commitment to providing something useful instead of simply focusing on entertaining.
Teknision's research and development efforts focus on new ways to interact with data. We strive to find innovative methods for users to manipulate and share data in order to form deeper understandings. We explore techniques to build new interfaces that are as entertaining as they are intuitive. Teknision's strategists constantly interact with thought leaders in branding and marketing to help develop new approaches for upcoming technologies.

Increase the Finetune user base by improving the on-site user experience and expand the Finetune service by creating Finetune players for widgets, devices and the desktop.
Results:
A sustained 130% increase in bandwidth usage. Currently 50% of the music is streamed to embedded or device based players. Featured articles in TechCrunch, ZDnet and IGN. The only music service listed on Time Magazine's Top 10 Websites of 2006 (#5).

To build a broadband video delivery platform that could easily be customized to any user interface design.
Results:
PermissionTV is currently one of the most robust content delivery platforms offering both streaming video and downloadable DVD quality video. Key PermissionTV clients include: Fox Interactive, Scion, Bob Vila, Cygnus, FHM, Intercontinental Hotels.

OUR TOWN
Teknision is located in Ottawa, Canada's capital.
We are a 2 hour drive to Montreal, a 4 hour drive to Toronto and a short 1 hour flight to New York or Boston. The greater Ottawa area has over 1 million people, but feels like a small town. Incredible biking, trails and skiing are mere minutes away. And, of course, there's always the Rideau Canal, the world's longest skating rink.
